Sounds Like Architecture!
We are happy to welcome you to the 2010 SAA RAIC Conference and Festival of Architecture. Our Festival Steering Committee is working hard to provide you with opportunities to experience the best of Saskatoon and Saskatchewan - friendly people, great venues, wonderful food, outstanding music and, of course, a variety of engaging opportunities for networking and for Continuing Education.
Our theme is "Sounds like Architecture". The reason? Midway through our Festival is the start of the annual Saskatchewan Jazz Festival – a 10 day celebration of music where world class artists delight us with jazz, blues, funk, pop and world music. The Jazz Festival runs June 25th to July 4th with free concerts daily in the downtown streets and parks, as well as a full slate of ticketed concerts around the City. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear some of Saskatoon’s finest musicians at our festival events and, come Saturday night, to celebrate together at our closing event enjoying a headline act of the Jazz Festival at the beautiful Delta Bessborough Gardens on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River.
Saskatoon is well known for our beautiful river valley, the Meewasin Valley Authority and our picturesque University of Saskatchewan Campus. Join us to learn how these were developed and continue to evolve and to experience a little bit of our prairie summer. You will have opportunities for walking tours, water tours and bus tours both in the City and out - including to the National Historic Site of Batoche, the site of the last battlefield in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885. Our Companion program will offer additional tours, special visits and lunches to provide our guests with more opportunities to enjoy Saskatoon.
Our Conference Centre and host hotels in downtown Saskatoon, along with a number of other selected venues, will host a wide variety of Continuing Education sessions and Festival events.
Towards the end of a busy day, relax and enjoy catching up with old friends and meeting new friends at our themed receptions and dinners, and please remember to stop by and visit us at the SAA Hospitality Suite at the Hilton Garden Inn.
