Between June 5 and 8, 2013, architects and associates will gather in Halifax, Nova Scotia to network, discuss issues related to the practice of architecture, celebrate achievements and socialize. The venue for this event is the Marriott Halifax Harbourfront, overlooking the lovely Halifax Waterfront.
Value of Beauty – Integrity in Architecture
This Festival’s theme, “Value of Beauty – Integrity in Architecture”, is particularly meaningful in the Maritimes. Located on the eastern seaboard of Canada, the Maritime provinces have evolved a distinctive architectural landscape, one that is rooted in the land and has developed over centuries as a result of interactions with cultures across the Atlantic, as well as indigenous cultural practices already here. Architectural practice in the Maritime provinces has traditionally valued utility, respect for cultural traditions, and a healthy appreciation for the power of nature. This has created an architectural culture that prizes architectural integrity through craftsmanship, economy and elegance of expression.
